Peter Hanna BA (Mod) EPA CPA

Peter is a European Patent and Trade Mark Attorney, and a Chartered Patent Attorney. He is an honours Natural Sciences graduate (1975) of Trinity College, Dublin majoring in Geology. Before joining the patent profession, Peter gained experience in mineral and petroleum exploration sectors, including computer programming. He became a partner in another Dublin firm of European Patent and Trademark Attorneys, and with over 20 years experience as a patent attorney, Peter set up his own firm in November 2000.

Peter is a leading European practitioner in the area of patenting computer software. He has spoken on this subject at meetings of LES (USA & Canada), AIPLA, Silicon Valley Intellectual Property Law Association. He is vice chairman of the software commission of the Union of Industrial Property Practitioners in Europe (UNION). He is also a member of FICPI and past Chairperson of LES (Ireland). He is also the author of a book, aimed at small and medium sized companies in Ireland and the UK, "Being Successful in...   Patents, Copyright and Trade Marks". He has represented clients before the EPO Opposition and Appeal Boards.
