Approached by major Australian patent holder to prosecute EP portfolio.

Invited by Irish Government to participate in preparation of a report evaluating strategy for Ireland’ place in the global economy.

New Clients and Government Advisory

Approached by Irish client to evaluate technology previously deemed not-patentable by UK firm. Identify patentable features which form the basis of two patent applications which are successfully prosecuted to grant in Europe, US, Russia and China. Upheld at opposition proceedings at the EPO and successfully licensed, this relationship has extended to managing over 150 patents across the world

Barry Moore represented the Irish Software Association before the Irish Parliament Joint Committee on Enterprise and Small Business in discussion of the Computer Implemented Inventions Directive and subsequently travelled to Brussels to brief Members of the European Parliament on same.

China Office Opens

Establish a China Representative Office in Dalian, China. With a full time member of staff permanently located in China we are the first Irish firm to do so.

Involved in IP due diligence which results in UK Client raising £4 million and successfully listing on AIM, continue to represent client to this day.

PayPal, 5th China IP Counsel Congress

Peter Hanna argues before EPO Technical Board of Appeal for PayPal and in decision T 0844/09 secures grant for an invention that lies in the area of on-line commerce.

Continued Growth: New Staff, New Clients, EPO invitation to trial new web-based filing system

Mary Toomey joins as first Practice Manager.

Involved in IP due diligence as part of fund raising efforts by two Irish clients which resulted in c. €10 million investment in each.

As opponent at the EPO, Hanna Moore + Curley attorneys distil argument at oral proceedings scheduled for two days to set of succinct points, patent revoked before lunch on the 1st day.

Approached on behalf of Russian client to draft and prosecute EP applications.

Invited by the EPO to participate in the pilot of the new web-based online filing CMS.

2014

New faces, new looks

In January 2015, French attorney Laurence Bibow joined the firm.  At the beginning of April, coinciding with a visit by our Chinese operations manager Amber Guo, we unveiled our new brand and website. 

2015

Moving to new headquarters

2015 was a very successful year of recruitment at Hanna Moore + Curley.  Having fully occupied two buildings in 12 and 13 Lad Lane, the company began seeking larger headquarter premises. In March 2016 Hanna Moore + Curley opened the doors of a new HQ building at Garryard House on prestigious Earlsfort Terrace. The design process was undertaken by Erik Maher of Collins Maher Martin Architects and fit out of the project is being managed by Gerard Martin of J J McCreery. The new offices extend over 5,500 square feet and are ideally located in the heart of the city's prestigious Dublin 2 area, nestling between the verdant Iveagh gardens and the flora and fountains of St. Stephen's Green.  

2016

A New Director

Conor Boyce became a Director of the firm in summer of 2017.  Conor brings over 20 years’ experience to the role and previously was a Partner at another leading firm of European Patent Attorneys. His university education was in the field of electronic engineering and he spent time working in-house with IBM in the UK before moving to private practice.

2017

A flourishing team

Hanna Moore + Curley's patent team continues to grow. Anna Hally joined the Life Sciences team late in 2017. Barry Moore is again hailed a "very knowledgable, reliable and safe pair of hands" while Laurence Bibow and Sinéad Lucy are named Rising Stars by Managing IP while the firm review notes "other notable attorneys include Marie Walsh, Catherine Hanratty and Conor Boyce".  Our professional training programme expands, with two new trainee patent attorneys joining during 2018 (Caroline Sheeran and Saibh Morrissey).
